Mike will continue to build on the success of his city council service.
Smart & Strategic Growth We don't need growth simply for growth's sake. We must continue to encourage strategic growth. Tax incentives must be used wisely and only when their use will bring quality jobs to the city or when their use meets a strategic objective of the city council. Citizens Must Approve New Taxes Mike will not support any new taxes without a vote of the citizens. Additional Funding for Police, Fire, and EMS Mike will continue to lead the way in supporting our emergency services. Police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel put themselves on the front lines and Mike will continue to advocate for them. Increase Investment in Roadway Improvements During his time on the council, the budget for street overlay has tripled. However, even at the current pace of overlay, it will take over 20 years to repave all of Liberty's roads. Mike will work diligently to continue to increase the overlay and repair budget for our road network to make driving around the city a smooth experience. Community Partnerships Mike will continue to work with and build relationships with our strategic community partners at William Jewell College, Liberty Public Schools, and Liberty Hospital. |
Balanced Budget
Mike serves on the Budget Committee and has be instrumental in insuring the city has a balanced budget. He'll continue to lead this committee and be a good steward of city revenues. Expand Residential Tax Credit Program The Residential 353 program has provided an incentive for downtown homeowners to improve their aging homes and properties, including dangerous sidewalks. The program abates real estate taxes on improved properties to help homeowners pay for the improvements. Mike wants to create new 353 districts in some of our older neighborhoods so that residents in these areas will receive a tax benefit for making significant improvements to their properties. Parks Improvements During Mike's time on the city council, our parks have seen significant improvement through increased investment. In addition, a new playground is coming to the Clay Ridge / Clay Brooke area. Mike will continue to work to improve our parks and to update park amenities throughout our parks system. Trails Citizens continue to ask for more and better trails with more connectivity to all parts of the city. Mike worked with the Parks department to complete a Trails Master Plan and will continue to work to complete more trails and to fill in the gaps between existing trails to increase connectivity. |
